Isode Directory evaluations are intended to highlight some of the key features of Isode's M-Vault Directory server and accompanying management tools. Four directory evaluations are currently available:

 

 

Sodium: An M-Vault Management Tool

When you evaluate our products we give you access to the same high-quality support resources that you'll be using when you become an Isode customer. We ask therefore that you fill in a short evaluation form before we give you access to the download area and send you an evaluation licence file.

The more information we have on the purpose of your evaluation, the better we can support you.

Evaluation documentation (available in PDF and HTML format from the individual evaluation pages listed below) is not password protected, you can download it now.

 

 

M-Vault (LDAP/X.500 Directory) Evaluation

This evaluation will guide you through setting up and managing a Directory Server. By the end of this evaluation you will have:

  • Become familiar with the terminology of some of the major Directory concepts
  • Created a Directory Server
  • Added entries to, modified and deleted entries in that directory
  • Accessed data in the Directory using a 3rd party LDAP Client (Outlook Express)

During this evaluation you'll become familiar with two key Isode Directory Management Tools, EDM (Enterprise Directory Management) and Sodium (Secure Open Data, Identity and User Manager).

X.509 Strong Authentication Evaluation

This evaluation will guide you through the process of configuring M-Vault to use X.509 based strong authentication. After completing this evaluation you will have:

  • Learned about the main concepts involved in configuring and managing an X.509 based environment.
  • Used Isode's Mini CA tool and created a local Certificate Authority.
  • Generated Certificate Signing Requests (CSRs) for Directory Servers and Clients
  • Used the CA to issue certificates corresponding to CSRs.
  • Configured and used strong authentication, signed operations and replication between two Directory Servers.

Directory Security Labels Evaluation

Isode's M-Vault supports Directory Access Control using Security Labels. After completing this evaluation you will have:

  • Set up security label and security clearance controls for the directory
  • Tested authentication restrictions and object access permission
  • Tested object addition restrictions

Directory Services Interface & Password Policy Evaluation

Isode's Directory Services Interface (DSI) is a collection of three, customizable, browser-based interfaces to the directory. After completing this evaluation you will have:

  • Created a directory server, populated it with sample data and used Sodium to set password policies for the directory.
  • Used web applications for the directory and demonstrated their support of password policy.
  • Looked at how web applications can be customized using the DSI Forms functionality.
