Background
The International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) have specified a new standard for the exchange of ground to ground messages in the aviation industry. These messages include such items as flight plans and weather reports - information critical to the smooth flow of worldwide air traffic.
This new standard 'Air Traffic Services (ATS) Message Handling Services' (or AMHS) is based on a recognised ISO standard for email exchange known as X.400.
X.400 is particularly well suited to the provision of critical, assured messaging providing many more facilities that enable medium and high grade message processing than available with standard internet-based mail. - M-Switch X.400: An X.400 Message Transfer Agent that provides the core message switching services and connects to external systems.
- M-Store X.400: An X.400 Message Store, for storing messages.
- M-Vault X.500: An X.500 and LDAP directory server, which is used to configure the Isode AMHS solution, and
- Isode's AMHS API: Used to connect AMHS applications to Isode servers.
- XUXA: XUXA is a demonstration cross-platform X.400 User Agent (email client), provided by Isode to help customers demonstrate and test Isode products and APIs.
