Following Isode's release in December 2002 of its upgraded X.400 and X.500 server products with extra functionality specifically for the AMHS market, Boldon James's ICAO SARPs compliant OSI Transport product (IMPART) has been integrated with Isode's server products, to enable them to operate over the ATN using OSI Transport.

(LONDON. - February 06, 2003) - The aviation industry is adopting AMHS (Air Traffic Services (ATS) Message Handling Services) to support ground to ground communications for services such as flight plans and meteorological data. These systems will eventually replace the current AFTN (Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network) installations. Working together, Boldon James and Isode can supply both AMHS solutions and AMHS/AFTN gateway solutions to support integration with legacy systems.

Isode's server products, which provide an AMHS server solution (M-Switch X.400, M-Store X.400, and M-Vault X.500) operate by default over TCP/IP. For many internal deployments and some external deployments, a TCP/IP based approach meets all requirements. However, some deployments require some or all elements of the AMHS solution to operate over the ATN, which uses the ISO Transport protocol and requires SARPs conformance. Integration of the Boldon James Impart product with Isode's server products provides this functionality.

By certifying the Isode X.400 MTA, Boldon James is now able to offer comprehensive and reliable solutions incorporating Isode products which have already proven themselves in the aviation, government and military sectors over a number of years.

Commenting on the integration, Isode CEO Steve Kille said: "With the increasing adoption of AMHS systems to support ground to ground communications in the aviation industry, the partnership with Boldon James is important in order to support AMHS deployments that wish to operate over the ATN. This is critical for some regions, an in particular for deployments in Asia Pacific"

"We've put a high priority on partnering with solution providers who will correctly exploit the strengths of M-Switch in this rapidly growing market. Our continuing partnership with Boldon James ensures that M-Switch, a product with a long history of success, will be professionally presented as part of a rigorously tested and complete AMHS solution."

Richard Bailey, Development Director at Boldon James added: "At Boldon James we recognise that a solution depends in part on the reliability of its constituent parts. By partnering with Isode and other technology leaders we continue to ensure that we can present our clients with the widest range of options when considering AMHS and AMHS/AFTN gateway solutions."
