M-Link Console

M-Link Console (MLC) is a GUI management tool that enables the rapid configuration, deployment and monitoring of an M-Link system. MLC capabilities include:

  • Set up and management of multiple M-Link servers.
  • Configure M-Link cluster nodes.
  • Archive browsing, for easy display of 1:1 chat and MUC archives.
  • Telemetry log viewing, to facilitate protocol debug.
  • User search and user roster view.

XMPP Service Setup Wizard

MLC's setup Wizard will allow you to setup of a straight-forward XMPP server configuration. As M-Link normally uses a directory to store configuration information, the wizard will also guide you through the process of creating a new DSA for this purpose or nominating an existing one.

A local XML file (ms.conf) is generated by MLC and used by M-Link to to hold information on the location of the directory. When no directory is used this file may be used to hold all M-Link server configuration information.

XMPP Service Management

MLC allows you to set up and manage the management of multiple M-Link servers, domains and multi-user chat domains. Multiple M-Link processes can be linked to form a cluster, and will automatically share data to provide a single service hosted across multiple nodes. MLC can be used to configure the addresses of each node in the cluster. All M-Link services can be clustered, so that the removal of a single node will leave all services, and the other nodes, undisturbed

M-Link Operational Management

MLC includes a range of capabilities for the operational mangement of M-Link, including:

  • Status checks on multiple XMPP servers.
  • Roster view, for the operator to visualize a client's roster. This is important to help determine if user reported problems are client side or in the service.
  • Archive browsing, for easy display of chat and MUC archives.
  • Telemetry log viewing, to facilitate protocol debug.
  • User search (XEP-0055).
