The M-Switch Internet Family (SMTP with Anti-Spam and Anti-Virus)
M-Switch SMTP is the core product on which all of the other M-Switch
Internet products are based. M-Switch SMTP is a high performance SMTP
(Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Message Switch. Its sophisticated queue
and scheduling approaches, leads to good operational characteristics
under very high load and with large queues. Members of the family are:
- M-Switch SMTP is the core server on
which all of the other products are based.
- M-Switch Anti-Spam is an anti-spam
solution built on the core product.
- M-Switch Anti-Virus is an
anti-virus solution, sold as an add-on to either M-Switch SMTP or
to M-Switch Anti-Spam.
Key Benefits
Rock Solid Message Switching
M-Switch has exceptional robustness and stability, including support
for failover clustering.
High Performance
As well as the basic ability to switch messages quickly, M-Switch has
many design features which give good performance under high load, and
gives good control of resource utilization and priority.
Excellent Horizontal Scaling
As well as being very fast, it is easy for multiple M-Switch instances
to share configuration information, either by use of common tables or
by use of directory based configuration.
Value Added Processing
M-Switch incorporates a number of anti-SPAM capabilities, virus checking,
authorization (flexible control of which messages are allowed through),
address rewriting (particularly useful to map all local address variants
to a single canonical form) and message archiving.
Managing M-Switch
There are two elements of managing M-Switch, which are described separately.
- There are a number of tools for monitoring and controlling an operational
system. These are described in the M-Switch
Operational Management Product Overview.
- M-Switch provides two options for configuration. The first is by
use of text tables, that may be indexed in a hash database. This is
described in the product manual. The second makes use of directory,
and includes graphical tools for configuring M-Switch. This is described
in Directory Based Configuration
of the Isode Message Servers.
Supported Platforms
M-Switch SMTP is available on Solaris, Windows, Linux and HP-UX. More
