On this page you can find out about the major improvements introduced
with R11.5:
- X.400 Demonstration User Agent changes (more)
- XUXA Source Code Availability (more)
- Extensions to the Open Group X.400 Gateway API to support STANAG
4406 Military Messaging (more)
- M-Box (IMAP/POP Message Store) now available on Solaris 9 (more)
R11.5 has now been superceeded, the current
Isode release is R14.3.
R11.5 was preceeded by R11.4.
XUXA: X.400 Demonstration User Agent
Isode's first release of XUXA (Isode Demonstration X.400 User Agent)
was made with R11.4. XUXA is designed to help developers using Isode
X.400 Client APIs (Java and 'C') and to demonstrate and test X.400 Infrastructure.
XUXA 2.1, included with R11.5 provides a number of detailed improvements,
in particular better body part handling (including general text and
File Transfer Body Part) and support of InterPersonal Notifications
(IPNs).
For the AMHS (aviation) market XUXA 2.1 provides a demonstration of
two important capabilities of Isode's AMHS Client API. These features
have been in the product for some while, but have not to Isode's knowledge
been used by a customer or demonstrated.
- Transfer of BUFR Messages (a binary meteorological format) using
FTBP (File Transfer Body Part). BUFR is an important ATC format, that
will be carried by AMHS as part of the Extended ATS Message Service.
XUXA demonstrates this capability, and will enable testing of BUFR
transfer over AMHS prior to wide availability of BUFR support in AMHS
Terminal products.
Display of the three AMHS service features that have two encoding
options in AMHS (Filing Time; Message Priority; Originator’s
Reference). These can be sent using the Basic ATS Service, that uses
AMHS defined protocol in a text body part, or using the Extended ATS
Service, that uses standard X.400 protocol features. This can be used
to test X.400 infrastructure, and other AMHS Clients for both Basic
and Extended ATS Message Service. Differences between the service
provided between Extended and Basic mode should be noted:
o Availability of all CDIN precedence values in Extended encoding.
o Year, month and second values for filing time available in Extended
encoding.
Screen shots and more information on XUXA is given in the XUXA
overview.
XUXA Source Code Availability
XUXA's Java source code is now available as an Eclipse Project, to
enable users of the Isode client APIs to see a full example use of the
APIs. This is of particular interest to users of the Java client APIs,
but may also be of interest to ‘C' developers. Isode charges a
nominal fee for this (£100), to bind customers to a legal agreement
(100K PDF)
. The goal of this is to prevent XUXA being used operationally or being
sold as a product.
Military & X.400 Customers
Of particular interest to our Military customers is the availability
in R11.5 of extensions to the
Open Group X.400 Gateway API to support STANAG 4406 Military Messaging.
The Open Group X.400 Gateway API is a standardized API to X.400 services,
that covers core commercial X.400 functionality. Isode has specified
and implemented extensions to this API to support STANAG 4406 Military
Messaging. These extensions also include support for the standard X.400
File Transfer Body Part, which is not covered in the Open Group specification.
These extensions will be of interest to vendors developing products
that need to integrate with STANAG 4406 Military Messaging. The product
is available immediately as a part of Isode's Open Group X.400 API Developer's
Kit. A new document outlining the specification of these extensions
is available from the documentation
page.
M-Box: now available on Solaris
9
M-Box is a high performance Internet Message Store, supporting IMAP
(Internet Message Access Protocol) and POP (Post Office Protocol). M-Box
features excellent horizontal scaling and easily outperforms
rival message stores.
M-Box is a key element in Isode's solution
for Service Providers and is available for evaluation
today as part of Isode's Internet Messaging Solution for ISPs or on
it's own.
With Release 11.5, M-Box is available for Solaris 9 adding to its existing
Linux & Windows distributions.
