Isode's M-Box provides the message storage and access component of an Internet Messaging solution and can be deployed as part of a complete Isode-based solution or integrated with an existing messaging infrastructure.
A high-performance Internet Message Store, M-Box supports IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and POP (Post Office Protocol) for message access and gets configuration information, including client authentication from an LDAP directory, such as M-Vault.
A seprate product, the M-Box IMAP/POP Gateway can be deployed in those situations where IMAP/LEMONADE access needs to be given to a client accessing a POP3 message store or proprietary message store.
M-Box has an optimized database design and multi-threaded architecture, which gives high performance and allows a very large number of users to be supported on a single server. Multiple copies of M-Box can robustly share a single file store, enabling straightforward service scaling for very large deployments.

In a benchmark whitepaper M-Box out-performed all test rivals by a wide margin. For more information on the performance of the elements that comprise the Isode solution for service providers, click here.
IMAP is the logical protocol choice for service providers looking to offer mobile email access to users carrying a wide range of existing devices (you can read more about why in our whitepaper on this subject). A good IMAP server, combined with a good client on the mobile device can achieve much of the functionality currently offered by vendors of proprietary mobile email solutions and current work on extending the standards promises to deliver much more in the near future.
As an Open Standards company, Isode have been heavily involved in the Internet Engineering Task Force's (IETF) LEMONADE working group, looking at standards extensions for mobile messaging. M-Box includes conformance to the new LEMONADE specifications, prior to final standardization of this work.
The goal of the LEMONADE working group is to define an Open Standards approach, based on the IMAP protocol, for more efficient email delivery to mobile devices, including:

M-Box can be deployed as a plugin to your existing messaging solution, as part of a new Isode-based messaging solution or as an enabler for Service Providers wishing to market value-added services to their clients (such as an efficient IMAP based business mobile messaging solution as discussed above).
