Designed for Mobile AccessThe Isode Mobile Gateway is based on Isode's M-Box mailstore, is designed to support mobile devices, and conforms to the new Open Standard extensions to IMAP, known as 'LEMONADE'. The IETF's LEMONADE (License to Enhanced Mobile Oriented And Diverse Endpoints) working group is addressing messaging standard extentions for optimized open standard mobile messaging. You can read more about LEMONADE in our whitepaper, "LEMONADE Profile: The Key Standard for Mobile Messaging".
'Push' Email for Existing HandsetsThe Isode mobile gateway delivers 'push' email experience using IMAP-IDLE, an existing Open Standard and part of the LEMONADE profile. IMAP-IDLE is supported by many existing handsets. You can read more about IMAP-IDLE in our whitepaper "IMAP IDLE: The best approach for 'push' email".
Brand Control for Service ProvidersThe Isode Mobile Gateway server is implemented by a service provider in the same way as any other email server. There is no compulsion to dilute the service provider's brand with reference to Isode. Isode's committment to Open Standards means that the service provider is not locked into the restrictive expansion and upgrade path of a proprietary system. You can read more on why Open Standards are important in our whitepaper, Open Standards: The best approach for mobile messaging.
Authentication & SecurityAuthentication is provided using SASL and data confidentiality using TLS. The gateway passes authentication requests to the back-end POP server, and so does not require you to directly manage authentication configuration.
ScalabilityThe Isode Mobile Email Gateway is designed with a multi-threaded architecture that can support thousands of simultaneous connections. You can read more about performance in our whitepaper "Benchmarking M-Box - Isode's IMAP/POP Message Store".
Simple ConfigurationBecause it operates in gateway mode, and only obtains messages from a POP back-end, configuration of the gateway is extremely simple.
