M-Link XMPP Server Evaluation
M-Link is Isode's Instant Messaging server based on the XMPP (eXtensible Messaging and Presence) protocol. You can read more about M-Link here.
Who is this evaluation for?
This evaluation is for customers looking to set up and run an XMPP service at their own domain, for IM communications internally or with other XMPP services.
This document addresses the needs of those who wish to evaluate Isode's M-Link XMPP Server as a standalone service. The M-Link XMPP server uses an LDAP directory to hold user information (either our own M-Vault directory, Active Directory or other LDAP directory). The download pages for your platform, listed below, include links to our M-Vault server and the evaluation guide assumes you'll be using M-Vault for user data.
A further evaluation guide is available for use of XMPP in Constrained Link Environments.
Evaluation Objectives
At the end of this evaluation you will have:
- Installed M-Link as a single-node XMPP service.
- Set up some sample users of the XMPP service.
- Exchanged XMPP Messages between XMPP Clients.
- Set up both ad-hoc and permanent Multi User Chat rooms.
- Set up and used Isode's GUI management tools for M-Link.
