M-Switch User Server

Message Switch for Messaging systems supporting users

M-Switch User Server supports message submission from messaging clients and provides direct access to a number of messaging protocols.

M-Switch User Server provides message submission from a messaging client and local message delivery to a message store. It provides support for various messaging capabilities, which are also provided by M-Switch Gateway, which provides messaging backbone and gateway services. These services are summarized here and described in detail as part of the M-Switch Gateway.

M-Switch User Server forms part of our Military Messaging Handling solution, alongside our Military Messaging client, Harrier and IMAP Message store, M-Box. It provides message-handling services via SMTP and other military messaging protocols.

Listed below are the various options that can be configured for deployment alongside the core SMTP capability. More details on each option are available in the M-Switch Gateway section.

STANAG 4406

STANAG 4406 is the NATO Standard for Military Messaging. This option provides M-Switch with the capabilities to transfer and manage Military Messages sent from MMHS systems such as Harrier, as well as full support for STANAG 4406 and the X.400 protocols on which it is based.

ACP 142

This option provides support for the ACP 142 multicast protocol that gives efficient operation over constrained networks and HF Radio. It can be used with STANAG 4406, following STANAG 4406 Annex E or with SMTP following MULE (RRC 8494).

ACP 127

This option enables M-Switch User Server to send messages using the ACP 127 protocol, a legacy text-based Military Messaging protocol.

CFTP

This option enables the CFTP protocol, an older standard for email over HF Radio. This add-on is important for using the M-Switch User Server with HF Radio systems.

Encryption

This option enables message encryption by M-Switch User Server using a combination of S/MIME and STANAG 4406 Encryption.

Profiler

This option provides content-based message distribution, used in support of organizational messaging, which is standard for formal military messaging. It allows network admins to set up routing rules for messages sent across a network based on their unique configuration rules.
