M-Link R19.2 release is a Fully Supported Isode release of M-Link containing the M-Link Edge product only (see the Supported Releases page for more details). For all other products in the M-Link family, R17.0 is the current release which contains M-Link and other Isode products

Read on for the new features introduced in R19.2.

Cross Domain Support

A key target for M-Link Edge 19.2 is to provide cross domain support in conjunction with Isode's M-Guard product. As described in the Isode whitepaper Isode's XMPP Cross Domain Solution.

To support this architecture, M-Link Edge supports GCXP (Guard Context eXchange Protocol), which enables secure communication with M-Guard or with another XML Guard.

Web Management

M-Link Edge 19.2 is the first M-Link product based on a significant refactor since M-Link 17.0. The most visible difference is that M-Link Edge 19.2 is fully Web managed, and M-Link Console is no longer used.

Other Capabilities

The following features, which were not present in M-Link Edge 17.0, are included::

  • Hostnames can now be used as an alternative to IP addresses when configuring XEP-0361 (X2X) links.
  • Support for stanza filtering and blocking is significantly extended, adding the ability to perform generic XML transformations in addition to simple removal of specific top level elements.
  • Session listing and monitoring is provided to support live debugging of transmitted session data.
  • Multiple XEP-0361 (X2X) and GCXP links can now be configured to provide fall back.
  • Operation does not require (or allow) configuration of an XMPP user.
  • Server restarts are never required for configuration changes on a live server.
  • Product Activation uses a new web-based capability.
