Isode's Icon-5066 2.0 release is a Fully Supported Isode release of Icon-5066 (see the Supported Releases page for more details).

Read on for the major changes that Icon-5066 2.0 introduced.

STANAG 5066

The key new capability in Icon-5066 2.0 is support of the Wireless Token Ring Protocol (WTRP) specified in STANAG 5066 Annex L. This enables efficient and fair usage of a shared HF channel between multiple nodes, controlled by passing a token between nodes. Further details are provided in the whitepaper [Wireless Token Ring Protocol]

Adding an efficient HF File Transfer tool (HFFTP) that implements HF File Transfer Protocol (HFFTP) (S5066-APP8).

A number of detailed STANAG 5066 functions:

  • Sounding Exchange. Drive Sounding Exchange in ALE unit. This is important when using ALE on a busy channel to ensure that LQA data is kept updates.
  • Configurable synchronization preamble, for STANAG 4539 and STANAG 5069 (M parameter), This allows increasing the preamble as conditions become poorer. This is helpful to avoid loss of transmission.
  • Option to use Ed3 Data Rate Change EOWs, which can support narrowband interoperable DRC. This complements the default Ed4 Data Rate Selection mechanism.
  • Configurable ALE link close time: Enables choice of when to close ALE. Zero time minimizes link switching time. Keeping the link open longer gives more efficient usage where traffic arrives before the link closes.

MoRaSky

A number of improvements to MoRaSky, Isode's Modem/Radio/Ionosphere simulator, primarily oriented to facilitating WTRP testing and simulate Naval Task Group deployments:

  • Option to simulate Surface Wave using Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) with fading over distance.
  • Option to lay out nodes relative to each other
  • Options for nodes to move
  • Provision of a GUI which allows easy setting of the many MoRaSky option and managing different settings as profiles.
